Pauline Butcher was working for a secretarial agency in London in 1967 when one evening a call came through from a Mr Zappa asking for a typist to come to his hotel room. Pauline took the call and so was obliged to go. Expecting a dull Italian businessman, she was instead confronted by a long-haired moustachioed charismatic musician who asked her to type up the lyrics for his album Absolutely Free. At the time she was a ‘straight’ young English girl from Twickenham and though instantly mesmerised by Frank Zappa himself, she was shocked by his writing 'immoral' songs for impressionable teenage girls.

Former Megadeth guitarist Glen Drover will soon release Metalusion, an instrumental album designed to showcase his jazz-rock skills alongside his metal talents.
Featuring Jim Gilmour on keyboards, Paul Yee on bass and Chris Sutherland on drums, Metalusion features 10 tracks, including five original compositions and five covers of material by Frank Zappa, Al Di Meola and Jean-Luc Ponty.
“Each song should sound as though it was meant to be included on the record,” Drover said. “Nothing should seem as though it’s out of place.”

The Avalon Allstars is an all-star band that performs at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco from time to time.
An earlier (2003/01/25) incarnation of the Avalon Allstars band could be considered as the Melvin Seals Band with special guests: Napoleon Murphy Brock, Ike Willis and Tal Morris.
